Louretta M. Thompson, age 82, of Milton, Kentucky, and the daughter of the late Chester Lewis and Edna May (Cunningham) Cain, was born on June 9, 1941, in La Grange, Kentucky. She graduated from Oldham County High School and was a homemaker throughout her life. On April 21, 1962, she was united in marriage to William Albert Thompson and they were blessed with four children: Peggy, David, Richard, and Cheryl. She was a member of Milton Baptist Church where she previously served as the minister of music, sang in the choir, and was a deacon's wife. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing piano, solving word searches, watching cooking shows, sewing, and playing with her cats. Mrs. Thompson passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana.
Her life will be cherished by her children: Peggy Barnard, of Milton, David Thompson, of Madison, Richard Thompson, of Bellbrook, Ohio, and Cheryl McCreary of Scottsburg, Indiana; her brother: Chester Cain of Vevay, Indiana; her grandchildren: Ashley Kendall, Paulle Thompson, Nick Thompson, Nathan Barnard, and Casey Thompson; her great-grandchild: Christen McCorkel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Thompson who passed away on February 16, 2017; and two sisters: Margaret and Bonnie Cain.
Pastor Keith Abrams and Reverend George Payocong, Jr. will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Friday March 15, 2024 at the Milton Baptist Church, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky. Friends and family may call at the Milton Baptist Church from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, March 14, 2024, and from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Milton Baptist Church Building Fund. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
