Carol H. (Humphreys) Chasteen

Life story Carol H. "Dolly" Chasteen, age 76, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Leslie and Beatrice (Moseley) Humphreys, was born on December 12, 1942, in Gary, Indiana. Since 1985, she had lived in Apopka, Florida but in 2012, she moved to Madison to be closer to her daughter. She retired from AT&T Telephone where she was a Senior Systems Consultant. Ms. Chasteen was a master gardener, loved animals, and was very generous with several charities. In Madison, she was a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Zeta Xi Chapter and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had a love for traveling the world and was especially fond of her trips to Iceland and New Zealand. Dolly passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. Her life will be cherished by her daughter: Beatriss Collins and her son-in-law, John, of Madison; her grandchildren: Christina Goodwin, James Goodwin, Brian Collins, and Scott Collins; and one great grandson, James Goodwin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Humphreys and Beatrice Hicks; her step-father Lynnwood Hicks, and her daughter, Sandra Chasteen in 2018. The Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Zeta Xi Chapter will conduct services at 6:00 PM Monday, November 4, 2019 at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive on Madison's hilltop. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 4:00 PM until the time of service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes or below.
