Life story Doris J. Humphreys, age 94, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Hickory Creek at Madison. Born October 11, 1924 in Madison, she was the daughter of Clarence and Florence (Santschi) Duke. On December 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to James W. "Woody" Humphreys. She was a homemaker, and formerly managed the concession stand at Crystal Beach for Eva and Bob Crum. She previously worked for the former Page's Department Store and the Charlestown Ammunition Plant. Mrs. Humphreys was a member of Hanover Baptist Church and the Madison Moose Lodge. She enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by two daughters: Patty Cole and her husband, Donald of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Barb Lowrance of Madison; one son, Jim Humphreys and his wife, Rhonda of Madison; nine grandchildren: Missy Holt, Tracie Richards, Tammy Vutner, Debbie Cole, Mike Humphreys, Andrew Davidson, Thomas Davidson, Ashley Rea and Meshia Moore; eighteen great grandchildren: Taylor, Chase, Trey, Peyton, Kinsley, Colton, Brierly, Stephanie, Tyler, Harlei, Keleigh, Xzavyer, Gabriel, Saphira, Christopher, Eric, Chris, Haydin, and Kahlin; and two great great grandchildren, Callen Grimes and Meadow Steward. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 7, 2009; one sister, Edna Sargent; three brothers: Don Duke, Robert L. Duke, and Harold Duke; and one son-in-law, Harry Lowrance on April 8, 2019. Reverend Frank McGee will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison, with interment to follow in Hebron Cemetery.
