Life story Mr. James R. Humes, age 51, of 743 North Grange Hall Road, Madison, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at his residence. Born December 14, 1952 in Madison, he was the son of Horace William and Ruth Merit (Todd) Humes, who preceded him in death. Mr. Humes was an employee of Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana at the time of his death, having served there for twenty-seven years. He attended the Broadway Second Baptist Church, was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and a volunteer for the Fraternal Order of Police and Miss Madison Racing Team. Survivors include one daughter, Leslie D. Humes and one son, Patrick D. Humes, both of Hanover, Indiana; three brothers: John Humes of Madison, Raymond Humes of Clarksville, Indiana and Louis Humes of Melbourne, Florida; eight sisters: Grace Humes, Connie Humes, Jeanie Humes, and Nancy Lewis, all of Madison, Stephanie Gallahar of Kennesaw, Georgia, Sandra Anderson, Elaine Smith and Julia Seniours, all of Columbus, Indiana; one aunt, DeCota Cosby of Hanover; three uncles: Melvin Humes, and Leonard Humes and his wife, Geneva, all of Hanover, and Fred Cosby of Madison; four nieces; eleven nephews; ten great nieces; eight great nieces; and host of other relatives and friends. Reverend Greg Humphrey, Reverend Robert Scott and Reverend Robert Bass will conduct funeral services at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the First Assembly of God Church, with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday, July 30, 2004 and after 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lide White Boys and Girls Club, Post Office Box 1128, Madison, Indiana 47250.
