Life story Mrs. Addie L. "Billie" Clapp, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2005 at Thornton Terrace in Hanover. Born December 21, 1913 in Bedford, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Perry Fulton and Frances Mary (Barnes) Watson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David T. Clapp in 1956, one daughter, Betty Stout in 1984, one granddaughter, Denise Hughes Wilson in 2004, and her brother, Nathan Watson. Mrs. Clapp worked for many years as a receptionist for the King's Daughters' Hospital, and then for the State Auto License Department in Indianapolis. She was a Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, and was on the steering committee for the Rainbow for Girls. Mrs. Clapp held an honorary lifetime membership in the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, and was also a 50 plus year member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed fellowship with her friends at the Heritage Apartments, playing cards and being with her family. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lee and Joseph "Joe" M. Landry of Salem, South Carolina; a son, John A. Clapp; two sisters: Elizabeth Lee Wentworth of Madison and Jenny Lois Fowler of Louisville, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Melody Moss and her husband, Mike, of Keller, Texas; four grandsons: Dr. Richard D. Landry and his wife, Julie, of West Suffield, Connecticut; Ryan Stout of North Carolina; John A. Clapp and his wife, Shalina, and John D. Clapp, all of Carrollton, Kentucky; several great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Norma Watson of Milton, Kentucky;; and several nieces and nephews. The Reverend Randy Crutchfield will conduct funeral services at 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 11, 2005 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Springdale Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the Hospice of Jennings County. Cards are available at the Lytle Funeral Chapel.
