Life story Mr. Alvin O. Burress, Sr., age 67, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at his residence. He was born on March 19, 1939 in Switzerland County, Indiana, the son of Chester Ray and Elanora (Butters) Burress. Mr. Burress retired as a heavy equipment operator. He played music for forty years, playing several instruments including the steel guitar, bass guitar, mandolin and dulbro. Survivors include his wife, the former Wanda L. Yocum, to whom he was married on September 3, 1977 in Macon, Tennessee; three daughters: Pamela Jo Smith of Scottsburg, Indiana, Michelle Smith-Mann, and her husband, Ronnie of Underwood, Indiana, and Jamie Singer and her husband, Shane, of Madison; two sons: Alvin O. Burress, Jr. of Baytown, Texas, and Chester Ray Burress, III and his wife, Cristen, of Angelton, Texas; three step-daughters: Dana Hernandez and her husband, Bobby, of Indianapolis, Robin Pepin of Anchorage, Alaska and Terry Copeland of Hanover; one step-son, Jerry Wolf and his wife, Linda, of Columbus, Ohio; one sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Leland Lewis of Madison; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert C. and Marie Burress, and Don and Cleta Burress, all of Madison; ten grandchildren: Zachary, Aaron, Shelby Jo, Brad, Mia, Maria, Jace, Raven and Devon; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Burress was preceded in death by his parents and one sister and brother-in-law, Ella Louise and Harold David. The Reverend Jeremy Miller will conduct funeral services at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 3, 2006 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Brooksburg Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2006 and from 12 Noon until time of services on Sunday. The family requests contributions in memory of Mr. Burress be made to the King's Daughters' Hospital Hospice and Home Health, or the King's Daughters' Hospital Cancer Center.
