Obituary

Life story Mrs. Ann M. Rogers, age 86, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. Born November 25, 1926 in Ghent, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Ernest and Hattie (Hewlett) Courtney. Mrs. Rogers retired in 2000 after many years as owner and operator of The Lovely You Beauty Shop in Hanover. Prior to that, she was a ration stamp counter during World War II for the US government and had worked as a furrier in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a charter member of the Hanover Baptist Church, but became a member of Madison First Baptist Church several years ago. She was also a member of the Fern Gronseth Missionary Circle of the church. Her hobbies included reading, traveling, Crossword Puzzles, walking along the Ohio River, her family and was an avid University of Tennessee football fan. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Patricia and Jess Stoner of Lexington, Indiana, Jan and Rob Bayliss of Oxford, Georgia, and Cheryl and Mike Foley of Hanover; two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Marsha Rogers of Lavon, Texas, and Tim and Carol Rogers of Hanover; one sister-in-law, Bernice Courtney of Madison; twelve grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Horace Milton Rogers in September 1990, and to whom she was married in 1951 in Warsaw, Kentucky; four sisters: Nancy Chandler , Fran Taylor, Bertha Montgomery, and Emma Courtney; and four brothers: Howard, Tony, James and Buchanan Courtney. The Reverend Brian Teater will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Saturday at the Madison First Baptist Church, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 PM Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, and from 12 Noon to 1PM Saturday at the church. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Sister Church/El Salvador Program. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
