Life story Mrs. Annette A. Humes, age 58, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at her residence. She was born November 2, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of William and Clara Mae McAtee Jemison. Mrs. Humes was a graduate of Columbus North High School, Columbus, Indiana, and worked in management most of her life, having managed the C and S Lounge in Columbus, the Madison Wal-Mart Deli Department and the former Boulder Shell. She had also worked for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, and was a self-employed seamstress at the time of her death. She was a member of the Madison Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Humes, to whom she was married on September 22, 1972; one daughter, Charlene K. Humes of Lexington; one son, Shawn L. Humes of Lexington; three sisters: Eveline Mercado, Brenda Fisher and Ernestine Anderson and her husband, Thomas, all of Columbus, Ohio; and one brother, Paul Beatty of Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Paul Humes; one daughter, Clarissa Humes; one sister, Rosetta Jemison; and two nephews: Paul, Jr. and Alvin, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at a later date. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Annette Humes Memorial Fund. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
