Arthur Lee
Perkinson
June 11, 1930 – October 7, 2022
Arthur Lee "Perk" Perkinson, age 92, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late John and Oveda (Handlon) Perkinson, was born on June 11, 1930, in Columbus, Indiana. On September 24, 1947, he was inducted into the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on October 3, 1951. On November 14, 1949, he was united in marriage to the former Beatrice L. Bladen and this union was blessed with three daughters. After twenty-six years, he retired from the Jefferson Proving Grounds. He was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1969. Mr. Perkinson passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison.
His life will be cherished by his daughters: Lisa Kay Holskey, of Crestwood, Kentucky, Jodie Lynn Shelley, of Madison, and Karen Elaine Hoffman of Madison; his sister: Oveda Ray Ricardo, of North Vernon, Indiana; six grandchildren: Christopher McKay, Phillip McKay, Christina Grandeo, Emilee Barraza, Eric Hoffman, and Zach Holskey; fifteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Perkinson on January 14, 2005; his brothers: Joseph William Perkinson and John Clinton Perkinson; and his sisters: Delsie Perkinson and Rachel Ann Schmidt.
Reverend Roger Dean will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2022 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Friends and family may call at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday.
The Honor Guards of the United States Navy and the American Legion Post #185, Vevay, Indiana, will conduct military honors on Friday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
