Life story Mr. Arthur H. "Tom" Skirvin, Jr., age 72, of Campbellsburg, Kentucky, formerly of Madison, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Hosparus Inpatient Unit of the Norton Pavilion in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on December 15, 1941 in Madison, the son of Arthur, Sr. and Emma (Campbell) Skirvin. Mr. Skirvin attended the former Dupont High School. He retired from Quality Dairy in Lansing, Michigan in 2001, after moving to Mason, Michigan in 1985. He served in the United States Navy on active duty from January 12, 1960 to February 17, 1964, and retired from the USN Reserves on April 1, 2001. He returned to the Madison area in 2009, locating in Campbellsburg, Kentucky. His memberships included VFW Post 1969, Madison, the Eagles Lodge, and a life membership in the American Legion Post in Michigan. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, loved playing horseshoes and corn hole, enjoyed being with his family, and talking. Survivors include his wife, the former Ella McDole, to whom he was married in October 1985 in Michigan; one daughter and son-in-law: Michelle and Todd Hayden of Milton, Kentucky; three sons and daughters-in-law: Arthur, III and Jean Skirvin of Columbus, Ohio, Oscar and Stacy Skirvin of Mason, Michigan, and Daniel and Carrie Skirvin of Ida Grove, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Oscar Skirvin. The family will conduct memorial services at a later date. Lytle Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
