Life story Audrey Juanita Hertz, age 91, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Baptist Health, LaGrange in LaGrange, Kentucky. Born February 9, 1927 in Osgood, Indiana, she was the daughter of William Edward and Clydia Jane (McNew) Gilland. She was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Madison High School after attending Osgood Schools through her sophomore year. She was a homemaker and worked at Fiesta Restaurant and Murphy's Five and Dime. On November 18, 1946, she was united in marriage to Francis William Hertz in St. Michael's Parish House. She volunteered for years for the March of Dimes and enjoyed embroidery, collecting angels, Cincinnati Reds baseball, IU Basketball and she loved to play cards. She will be sadly missed by her daughters and sons in law: Connie and Frank Welsh of Campbellsburg, Kentucky, Vickie and Graham Lohrig of Madison, and Cathy and Will Voit of Marion, Indiana; her nine grandchildren: Mitzi Bednarczyk (Glenn), Sandy Bryant, Scott Taylor (Jessica), Monica Lohrig, Thomas Lohrig, Peter Lohrig (Nichole), Amanda Taylor, Mike Storie (Melinda), and Emily Martin (Rick); her 19 great grandchildren: Hope, Ethan, Paige, Sarah, Jenna, Addison, Emarie, Andrew, Owen, Emma, Eva, Theo, Madison, Jake, Grayson, Harper, Kellen, Gannon, and Victoria; her sisters in law: Susie McKay, Mary Ann Bear(Ronnie), Joan Tucker, and Nancy Hertz; her brother in laws Tony Hertz and Joe Hertz (Deedy) and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis William Hertz on July 15, 2008, her sisters: Thelma L. "Selma" Chatfield, Dorothy Hosmer, Eva Faye Bare, LaVon Corbin and Doris May Zapp; her brothers: Leadum and Grover Gilland; her sisters in law: Patty Hertz, Marion Lynch (Lee) and Gay Hertz; and her brothers in law: Charles Hertz (Norma), Albert Hertz (Betty), Bernard Hertz (Verle), William Hertz, and Thomas McKay. Father Christopher Craig will conduct Funeral services at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison, IN with interment to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2018, and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Wednesday December 12, 2018. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
