Barbara J. McAlister, 72, of Madison, Indiana, and daughter of the late John and Estelle (Thompson) Singer, was born July 12, 1948, in Lexington, Indiana. She graduated from Madison Consolidated High School in 1966 and was voted most athletic by her classmates. On July 29, 1967, she was united in marriage to Donald Wilson McAlister, Jr. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Madison. This marriage was blessed by three sons, Donnie, Chad, and Jason.

She started work at Madison Consolidated Schools Administration Building downtown. She worked at the Madison Parks Department and Building Inspectors office before retiring in 2010 from Spaulding's Dental Office after 22 years. She was a lifelong resident of Madison and enjoyed reading, computer games, working puzzles, Nascar(Jeff Gordon), and you could not go over without seeing her watching game shows. For the ones that know her best, you will understand this-"ALWAYS FAMILY FIRST". Mrs. McAlister passed away February 23, 2021 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Her life will be cherished by her husband, Don "Junie" of 53 years of Madison; her sons: Donald William McAlister and his wife, Paula of Madison, Chad Wilson McAlister and his companion, Gina of Madison, and Jason Mark McAlister and his companion, Amy of Madison; her brother: William Robert "Bob" Singer and his wife, Lisa of Madison; her grandchildren which she loved more than life itself: Brandon, Brianna, and Irelyn; and also her recently born great grandchild, Finley that she had started to spoil. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The Reverend Bimp McAlister will conduct the funeral service at1:00 PM Saturday February 27, 2021 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from4:00 PM to8:00 PM Friday, February 26, 2021, and from 12:00 Noon until time of service on Saturday.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
