Life story Mrs. Becky M. Baker, age 64, of Crosby, Texas, formerly of Madison, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born October 18, 1945 in Madison, she was the daughter of Athel Lomax and Betty Jean Brinson Smith. Mrs. Baker was a 1964 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. She was a member of the American Legion and the VFW, and enjoyed crocheting. She moved to Crosby, Texas in October 1981 and was involved in community fundraising activities there. She cared very deeply for her family. Survivors include her husband, David Baker, to whom she was married on July 25, 1981; two daughters: Debbie Lewis of Madison, and Michelle Lockridge of Crosby; four sons: Claude Reece of Madison, Alvin Burress of Dayton, Texas, Chester Burress of Austin, Texas and John Lockridge of Crosby; her step-children: Shane Baker of Madison, Kelli Baker of Hanover, Indiana, Pam Smith and Michelle Mann, both of Scottsburg, Indiana, Tammy Kay new of Vidar, Texas, and Betsy Masters of Oregon; one sister, Linda Furnish of Madison; two brothers: Russell Smith and Robert "Derma" Smith, both of Madison; twenty-one grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter, Cathy; one infant granddaughter, Mercedes Lewis; and her mother-in-law, Edith Strickland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Sterling-White Funeral Home, Highlands, Texas, with interment to follow in the White Cemetery there. Friends may call from 2 to 6 PM Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, and from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2010 and 10-11 AM Thursday July 8, 2010 at Sterling-White Funeral Home in Highlands.
