Life story Betty J. "Jeanne" Watson, age 66, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at her residence. Born July 15, 1945 in Madison, she was the daughter of Vernon Michael and Ruth LaVerne (Doogs) Hock. Mrs. Watson had lived in Madison all her life, having attended Shawe Memorial High School and worked as a stock clerk for the former Star Food Store, and the former Perry and Davis Drug Store. In May 1976, she began her career as an assembler at Grote Manufacturing Company (now Grote Industries) and worked there until her retirement in June 2010. She enjoyed her friends and loved her true friends at Grote. She loved her angels, playing cards, the outdoors, fishing, camping, boat riding, horses, mudding, riding four-wheelers and creeks. Jeanne will be missed by her daughters Debbie Bennett and her husband, Craig, of Madison, Brenda Watson-James of Louisville, Kentucky, and Carla Wehner of Madison; her sons Charles Allen Watson and his wife, Laura, of Deputy, Indiana and Danny Long and his wife, Faye, of Madison; her grandchildren: Michael and his wife, Kailee, Brent and his wife, Megan, Charlie, Storme, Alexus, Zackary, Torie, Zaynah, Zoie, Kody, Kole and McKenzie; her sisters Nettie A. Malcomb and her husband, James of North Vernon, Indiana, and Donetta Goodman of Louisville; one brother, Charles Cardinal of Dupont, Indiana; one aunt, Helen Hock of Madison, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Michael Hock on October 27, 1957; mother, Ruth LaVerne (Doogs) Hock-Caldwell-Cardinal on November 18, 1994; her companion of twenty-two years, Robert Keith Long on August 15, 2007; two sisters: Mary Dean Wilkerson on October 17, 2003 and Janet R. Jones on October 5, 2010; and one brother, Donnie Cardinal on December 7, 1990. The Reverend Scott Elston will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday, October 18 and from 11:00 until 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 19. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association or the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics.
