Life story Mrs. Betty Joanne "Nanny" Sullivan, 82, of Madison, Indiana passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the home of her granddaughter, Amanda Sullivan in Madison. She was born Tuesday, August 21, 1928 in Jefferson County, Indiana the daughter of Orville Jackson and Mary Helen (Borcherding) Richmond. Mrs. Sullivan was a graduate of Hanover High School in 1946. She was married to Robert William "Sully" Sullivan on May 28, 1949 in Trimble County, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1969. To this happy union arrived a daughter and four sons, who survive: Judith Sullivan Bennett of Salem, Virginia, William Keith Sullivan of Madison, Mark Ellis Sullivan and Robert Bryan Sullivan and his wife, Penny Rose Sullivan, of Hanover, and Richard Lane Sullivan of Madison. She had nine grandchildren: Doug Bennett, Delesa Maddox, Scott Cox, Tisha Sullivan, Amanda Sullivan, Jason Sulliivan, Danielle Childress, Marcus Sullivan, Ashly Sullivan; twelve great grandchildren; and five nieces and four nephews. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a former member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW and American Legion, and had worked as a bookkeeper for Hanover Nursing Center, O.V.O. and retired from Lodge Home Furnishings in 2000 at the age of 72. Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Rodney Richmond in January 2011, and a niece, Jamie Lynn Richmond. She was also survived by one brother and two sisters: Leah Richmond Nelson of Lexington, Indiana, Beverly Richmond Robbins and her husband, Graham of Hanover, and Jackson Richmond and his wife, Mary of Cocoa, Florida. The Reverend James Cox will conduct memorial services at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Lytle Funeral Chapel, in Madison. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Little People of American Association. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
