Obituary

Life story Carl Short, age 83, of Deputy, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Born November 21, 1935 in Harlan, Kentucky, he was the son of Andrew and Mary (Kelly) Short. He retired in 1997 from the former Reliance Electric Corporation. He was a former member of the American Legion and especially loved farming, raising chickens and watching boxing and basketball. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Casie Short and Joy Hammond, both of Deputy; his son, Vernon Short of Deputy; his brother, Chelsea Short of Madison; his granddaughter, Nicole Bruther; and his great-grandson, Grayson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Annie Saylor and Beatrice Witt; and his brothers; Ott, Palmer, Lamuel and Coy Short. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison, Indiana with interment to follow in Lick Branch Cemetery.
