Life story Carmelo "Chico" Ortiz Santiago, 69, of Madison, Indiana, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. He was born Monday, July 16, 1945 in Patillas, Puerto Rico, the son of Demencio Ortiz and Primitiva Santiago. Mr. Ortiz Santiago was employed with U.S. Filter as a welder and painter until 2006 when he retired. He was also a carpenter. He enjoyed fishing and watching University of Louisville basketball. Survivors include, his wife, Jewell "Judy" Ortiz Santiago of Madison; his daugther, Lisa Nicole Ortiz Santiago of Madison; his step-daughter, Jennifer L. Sedam of Belleville, Illinois; his mother Primitiva Santiago; six brothers and sisters; three grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn McMahon, Alexis Mae McMahon and Jessica Rae Perkinson; his niece, Teresa Kaye Sutherland of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and his great nephew Tyler Sutherland of Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father. The funeral arrangements are pending.
