October 28, 1946 – February 8, 2022
Carol Lee Scranton, age 75, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Dewey and Anna (Surrett) Kelly, was born October 28, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a cutter at the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana and Madison and had also worked at Grote Industries, Marble Hill, and Madison Precision. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, camping, and quilting. Ms. Scranton passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. Her life will be cherished by her companion of eleven years, Carl P. Richards of Madison; her children: Carol Harmon, of Carrollton, Texas, Rhonda Heightchew and her husband, Steve of New Castle, Kentucky, and Harold Scranton and his wife, Lisa of Bennington, Indiana; her grandchildren: Nathan Scranton, Kayla Scranton, Tyler Cranmer, Isabella Richards, McKayla Richards, Larry Hedgepeth, Jr., Devon Lionetti, Ryan Harmon, Jennifer Clark, Amy Murray, Jaysen Temple, Brittany Harlow, and Seth Harlow; great grandchildren: Ethan and Addi Cranmer, Ethan Harmon, Emma Harmon, Brayden Brown, Elly Brown, Colton Temple, Kaliegh Scott, and Izabella Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Missy Temple; her son: Robert Harmon; her sisters: Nancy Breeden and Anna Richards; and her brothers: Donald Kelly and Billy Kelly. Mr. Kenneth Surrett will conduct funeral services at 4:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2022 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Ryker's Ridge Cemetery in Madison. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 2:00 PM until the time of the service on Friday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
