Obituary

Life story Mr. Charles E. "Eli", "Chip" Whitney, III, age 52, of Madison, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the King's Daughters' Hospital. He was born on October 29, 1960 in East Chicago, Indiana, the son of Gordon D. and Marilynn L. Cole Whitney. Mr. Whitney moved to Madison from Hammond, Indiana in 1972, and graduated from Madison Consolidated High in 1978. While there, he played football and was on the swim team. He went on to receive a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Purdue University and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He had worked for the former Casteel Chevrolet dealership in Madison, and for Dow Corning in Carrollton, Kentucky, and was currently the safety director for Henderson Services, LLC in Louisville, Kentucky, where he had worked for the past thirteen years. His civic interests include the Corvette Club of Madison and was a former president, the Madison Elks Lodge, the Madison Regatta, and was currently president of the VFW, Post #1969, Madison. Survivors include one daughter, Alicia Whitney and her fianc, Zach Ricketts of Madison; one step-daughter, Tracy Westrick of Madison; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Christine and Steve Kinney, and Cathleen and William Kalb, all of Dallas, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Private services were held at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
