Obituary

Life story Mr. Charles F. Requet, Jr., age 79, of Madison, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover. Born February 28, 1936 in Jefferson County, Indiana, he was the son of Charles F., Sr. and Bertha L. Stephanus Requet. Mr. Requet was a 1955 graduate of Madison High School and a life-long resident of Madison. He was a self-employed building contractor, owning and operating Requet Construction until his retirement in 2007. He was known for his work for Historic Madison, Inc. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served as a scout master for Boy Scout Troop 721 for more than twenty years and received the Silver Beaver Award, scouting's highest award for a scout master. Mr. Requet was an avid trap and skeet shooter, winning several competitions as a semi-professional. He loved to hunt and fish, and served as a mechanic and transportation director for the Webb Smith race car team. He also coached youth soccer, baseball and basketball, and volunteered for the Shawe High School concessions during the Madison Regatta and Old Court Days events. Survivors include his wife, Joyce, to whom he was married on February 27, 1965 at Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Madison; and one son, Charles F. "Chuck" Requet III and his wife, Elizabeth Auxier. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Chris Craig at 11:00 AM Friday, February 12, 2016 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, with interment to follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Vail Chapel on Michigan Road of Lytle Funeral Homes from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 11, and from 10:00 to 10:30 AM Friday. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hoosier Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America for Boy Scout Troop 721. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
