Life story Mr. Charles R. "Bud" Short, age 73, formerly of Madison, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2006 at his residence in Bloomington, Indiana. He was born September 12, 1932 in Centerville, Indiana, the son of Cecil and Lillian Schoenstein Short. Mr. Short graduated in 1950 from Madison High School and attended Coyne Electronics School in Chicago. He worked in Indianapolis for the RCA Company for a year and a half, returning to Madison in 1953 and starting his own business, Short's TV. In 1970 he received his real estate broker's license and began to build and develop properties in Jefferson County. He and his wife moved to Bloomington in 1994 and began developing and building properties there with his son, Chuck. He worked in that profession until his death. Survivors include his wife, the former Zona Rowlett, whom he married in 1952; his father, Cecil Short of Madison; two sons and daughters-in-law: Steve and Carley Short of Hanover, and Charles, Jr. "Chuck" and Diane Short of Bloomington; two daughters: Cathy Hale and her husband, Dave of Madison, and Cindy Short of Bloomington; one sister, Jo Ann Cheatham of Madison; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Short in 1982; one son, Donnie Short in 1959; one sister, Carolee Goebel in 1995; and one grandson, Matt Hale in 2004. Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend Tony Goebel at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 11, 2006 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 PM today, Wednesday, May 10, 2006 and from 10 AM until time of services tomorrow.
