Obituary

Life story Charles J. "Charlie" Van Wye, age 77, of Madison, Indiana, passed away Saturday, October, 3, 2009 at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. Born October 11, 1931 in Dupont, Indiana, he was the son of Frank and Florence (Lockridge) Van Wye. Mr. Van Wye worked for 23 years at Barber Grocery and retired from M & T Chemical in Carrollton, Kentucky. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a member of the Milton Masonic Lodge #947. He enjoyed to catfish and loved to tell fish stories. Survivors include his wife, Wanda (Carter) Van Wye, whom he married on March 25, 1952 in Madison; three daughters: Debbie Bruce of Madison, Terri Earls and Tom Schafer of Madison, and Dani and Mark Moore of Madison; one son, Joseph and Bonita Van Wye of Madison; two brothers: Richard and Gary Van Wye, both of Madison; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles Joseph Van Wye, Jr.; nine sisters: Lucy Smiley, Betty Burris, Mary Callis, Norma Bode, Bonnie Thompson, Myrle Vitale, Helen Burchfield, Carol Irwin, and Maxine Jones; two brothers, Ronald Van Wye and Frank Van Wye, Jr. Elder Mike Hoard will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Dupont Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday and from 10 to 11AM Wednesday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the King's Daughters' Hospital EMS or King's Daughters' Hospital Home Health or Divita Dialysis.
