Life story Mr. Charles E. Ward, age 71, of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at his residence. He was born on June 25, 1942 in Madison, Indiana he was the son of Warren and Minnie Ann (Perkinson) Ward. Mr. Ward was a graduate of Deputy High School and a 1985 graduate of IVY Tech with a certificate in auto mechanics. He served in the United States Air Force and retired in 1989 as a mechanic with BFI Trucking. He also worked for Larry Spann Trucking and H and H Trucking. Mr. Ward Attended the Milton United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Milton Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and going to flea markets. Survivors include his wife, the former Dorothy Scholey, whom he married on October 19, 1963 in Madison; one son, Chuck Ward and his wife, Lisa of Milton; two daughters: Kim Massie and her husband, Gerald of Milton, and Maggie Ward of Milton; one brother, Henry Ward of Deputy; two sisters: Norma Thomas of Zanesville, Ohio and Linda Perry of Milton; and two half-sisters, Jeanette and Mary, both of Madison; one grandson, Jeffrey Ward of Milton; five step-grandchildren: Krysten Snyder, Jessica Roberts, Dusty Massie, Andy Massie and Beth Ann Mefferd; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, four sisters and three brothers. The Reverend Mike McArter will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Monday, June 2, 2014 at Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Jefferson Post #9, American Legion, will conduct graveside services. Friends and family may call at Lytle Funeral Chapel on Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM and from 10 to 11 AM Monday, June 2. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Milton United Methodist Church Building Fund, Shop with a Firefighter, or the American Heart Association.
