Obituary

Life story Mr. Clarence Housefield, Jr. age 82, of Hanover, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born on May 1, 1930 in Madison, the son of Clarence, Sr. and Norma (Buchanan) Housefield. Mr. Housefield graduated from the former Central High School in 1948, and was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked as an operator for the Indiana Kentucky Electric Corporation for thirty-six years, was a farmer and formerly managed the Main Grill Restaurant in Madison. He was an Associate Guardian of Job's Daughters, the Hanover Masonic Lodge and Hanover Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Shriners, Scottish Rite, Elk's Lodge, Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Jefferson Post #9, American Legion. He was also a pilot and loved to fly. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed traveling and playing Bingo. Survivors include three daughters: Tammy Brown of Spanish Fort, Alabama, Norma Cheryl Perry of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Tricia Ann McDowell of Michigan City, Indiana; one son, Jaymee Rogers Housefield of Knoxville, Tennessee; two step-daughters: Tami Blair of Deputy, Indiana and Nancy Keller of Madison; one brother, Paul Edwin Housefield of Madison; two sisters: Marjorie Jean Ginn of Madison and Barbarea Ann Arthur of Terre Haute, Indiana; twenty-one grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, the former Ann Louien Ditzler; his second wife, the former Mary L. Jenkins; two sisters: Mary Kathleen "Sis" Webster and Marilyn Louise Hart; and one brother, Glenn Marvin Housefield. The Reverend J.D. Traylor will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Bayless Cemetery. The Honor Guard from Jeffesron Post #9, American Legion will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday and from 12 Noon to 1 PM Thursday at the funeral home. The Hanover Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services at 6:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or the VA Medical Center. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
