Life story Miss Constance "Connie" Marie Humes, age 60, passed away on Monday, July21, 2008 at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. She was born on May 27, 1948 in Madison, the daughter of Horace William and Ruth Merit (Todd) Humes. Miss Humes attended the former Broadway School and graduated in 1966 from Madison Consolidated High School. She had worked for several years as a supply clerk for Hanover College, and more recently as an engraver for the Royer Manufacturing Company in Madison for ten years. Her memberships included the Broadway Baptist Church, where she was treasurer and its Anna Laura Missionary Circle. Miss Humes enjoyed playing Euchre, BidWhist, and computer games, as well as being with her nieces and nephews. Survivors include seven sisters: Grace Humes, Jeanie Humes and Nancy Lewis, all of Madison, Stephanie Gallahar of Miami, Florida, Sandra Anderson, Julia Seniours and Elaine Smith, all of Columbus, Indiana; three brothers: John Humes of Madison, Raymond Humes of Clarksville, Indiana and Louis M. Humes of Melbourne, Florida; one uncle, Melvin Humes of Hanover and one aunt, Geneva Humes of Hanover; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great great nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James R. Humes on July 27, 2004; one uncle, Fred Cosby on February 5, 2008; and one aunt, Decota Cosby on May 10, 2008. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 24 2008 at the Broadway Baptist Church, with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Lytle Funeral Chapel and from 9:00 AM until time of services on Wednesday at the church. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Connie Humes Memorial Fund, in care of Lytle Funeral Chapel. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
