Life story Della L. Ryker Borie, age 57, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2008 in Huntsville. She was born on June 15, 1950 in Madison, the daughter of Arnold and Eleanor Sutter Ryker. Mrs. Borie graduated from Madison Consolidated High School, attended Hanover College, and earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degree from Butler University. She was a professor of Microbiology at Faulkner University in Huntsville, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2005, and had previously taught at Purdue University. She also worked for the United States government in Huntsville. Mrs. Borie was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Huntsville. Survivors include her mother, Eleanor Ryker of Madison; one sister, Anita Johnston of Beverly Hills, Florida; one niece, Beth Smitley of Hanover; three aunts; one uncle; and several cousins. The Reverend Jerry Wheeler will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Ryker's Ridge Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
