Obituary

Life story Mr. Delmer Brown, age 82, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. Born January 17, 1928 in Whitco, Kentucky, he was the son of Larkin and Susan Brown. Mr. Brown attended Whitesburg, Kentucky High School, and served in the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1948. He had worked as a coal miner in Eastern Kentucky and for Buick Motor Division of General Motors in Chicago before moving to Madison in 1968. He retired as a shipping clerk from Rotary Lift in 1980. Survivors include one son, Gary Brown and his wife, Pat of Madison; two daughters: Barbara Martin and her husband, Howard of North Vernon, Indiana and Karen K. Proffitt and her husband, Ralph of Whitco; one sister, Gertrude Maggard of Dryden, Virginia; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elsie Arlene Absher Brown in 1952, his second wife, Kathleen Cattlehan Brown in 1987, two sisters: Alberta Isom and Lela Combs; and two brothers, Paul Brown and Chester Brown. The Reverend Larry Hatton will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Crace Cemetery, Charlestown, Indiana. Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 PM Thursday and from 10 to 11 AM Friday at Lytle Funeral Chapel.
