Obituary

Life story Mrs. Delsie Meredith Hereford, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at her residence. Born August 2, 1926 in Trimble County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Wilber and Lucille Carlisle Richmond. Mrs. Hereford and her late husband owned and operated the Clifty Motel and Jerry's Restaurant, and later built the Hereford Motor Lodge and Lounge. She was an avid sports fan, especially Indiana University basketball. She also enjoyed traveling, reading and horseracing. She was a member of Madison First Baptist Church, the Madison Regatta, was one of the first women to join the Madison Elks Lodge #524, and volunteered at the Salvation Army. Survivors include one daughter, Jacque Thacker of Madison; one sister, Ruth Oles of Hanover, Indiana; one grandson, Brent Thacker of Madison; and one great grandson, Jackson Thacker of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Hereford, one daughter, Patricia Hereford in 2010, and two brothers, Wilber Richmond, Jr. and Robert Richmond. Memorial services will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Friends and family may call at Lytle Funeral Chapel form 5 to 8 PM on Friday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the King's Daughters' Hospital Hospice and Home Health or the Salvation Army. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
