Obituary

Life story Senior Master Sergeant Dennis R. Lytle (U.S. Air Force, Retired), 63, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, formerly of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 in Little Rock, Arkansas after being evacuated from Hattiesburg due to Hurricane Katrina. He was born in Tacoma, Washington, the son of the late Markt A. and Ruth (Dorwin) Lytle. He graduated in 1960 from the last Madison High School class at the old high school on Broadway, attended Hanover College, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1962. He retired from the Air Force a decorated Viet Nam veteran. He also retired as the head of the Technology Department at the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church West in Hattiesburg. As a young man, he enjoyed playing pool and working on old cars. His family and friends remember Dennis for his laugh and zest for life that enabled him to keep a positive attitude throughout his life. Survivors include his wife, Jane Lytle; two sons: Alan Lytle of Little Rock, and Mark Lytle of Hattiesburg; one sister and brother-in-law: Suzie and John Kephart of Arlington, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Markt L. and Donna Lytle, and Andrew D. and Karen Lytle, all of Madison; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM CDT Friday, September 16, 2005 at the Moore Funeral Home, Hattiesburg, with interment to follow in the Highland Cemetery there. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM CDT Thursday at Moore Funeral Home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Madison Riverfront Development Committee, C/O Lytle Funeral Chapel.
