Obituary

Life story Mr. Derrick Lee Yocum, age 32, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at his residence. He was born February 12, 1981 in Madison, Indiana, the son of Edwin Lee "Duke" and Johanna "Jodi" (Adams) Yocum. Mr. Yocum was a 1999 graduate of Southwestern High School in Hanover, and an ASE certified mechanic. He previously worked for Jim Hadley Chevrolet for ten years, North American Stainless in Carrollton, Kentucky for about two and a half years, and was currently an auxiliary equipment operator at IKEC in Madison. He was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge and United Manual Transmission Racing. He enjoyed working on cars, especially Mustangs, racing at the Edgewater Drag Strip Race Track, NASCAR, playing guitar and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, the former Sabrina Lock, to whom he was married on February 2, 2013 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee; his parents of Hanover; three sisters: Brittni Leach and her husband, Zac of Hanover, Kaye Brameier of Hanover and Ginger M. Eckhoff and her husband, Arden of Lucedale, Mississippi; one brother, Charles Michael Hatchel and his wife, Tara of Hanover; his maternal grandparents: Melvin and Linda Adams of Hanover; two sisters-in-law: Shannon Neff and her husband, Anton of Spencer, Indiana and Savannah Lock of Napoleon, Indiana; one brother-in-law, Scott Lock of Madison; his father-in-law, Michael Lock of Madison and mother-in-law, Susan Lock of Napoleon; ten nieces and nephews: Bonnie, Trent, Brook, Cayla, Noah, Will, Chloey, Sophia, Sadie and Sylus; and one great niece, Madison. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William "Willie" and Bulah Mae Yocum. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Carmel Cemetery near Hanover. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, April 18, and from 11AM until 1PM Friday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Derrick Lee Yocum Memorial Fund. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
