Life story Mrs. D'Ette Kimberly "Tootie" (Hockensmith) Brawner, age 48, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at her residence. She was born on April 3, 1960 in Madison, the daughter of Leroy "Lee" and Betty (Canfield) Hockensmith. She was a lifelong resident of Madison and attended the Dupont Baptist Church for several years as a child. She was a former employee of the former Hook's Drug Store for fifteen years, and then became a licensed hairstylist, having worked for The Hair Shak for ten years. Mrs. Brawner enjoyed gardening, crafting, listening to music, collecting old movies and boating, especially at Dale Hollow Lake. Survivors include her husband, Michael Casey Brawner, to whom she was married on September 6, 2003; her mother, Betty Canfield Hockensmith of Madison' her father, Leroy "Lee" Hockensmith of Frankfort, Kentucky; one sister, Lynette Tilley of Madison; three brothers: Kevin Hockensmith and his wife, Tamala of Madison, Mark Overton and his wife, Ann of Madison, and Keith Overton of Milton, Kentucky; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Thomas and Sharon Brawner of Madison; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Amy and Brent Falkenstein of Jeffersonville, Indiana; three nieces, three nephews, three aunts, two uncles; and two dogs, Molly and Sammy. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harry and Ines Canfield. The Reverend Don Bradley will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Springdale Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, August 3, 2008 and from 11:00 AM until time of services on Monday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Contribution envelopes are available at the Lytle Funeral Chapel.
