Obituary

Life story Mr. Donald M. Chalmers, age 80, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born on May 30, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Chalmers was a salesman for EUTECTIC, traveling to the Far East. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy on May 9, 1952, having served in the World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a Metalsmith Second Class. He then went to Vietnam as a civilian during the conflict there. Mr. Chalmers was an advocate for the handicapped, and worked hard to make public building compliant with the American with Disabilities Act. He also enjoyed playing golf. Survivors include his wife, the former Caroline M. Roberts, to whom he was married in 1947; two sons: Patrick D. Chalmers of Waianai, Hawaii, and Bruce A. Chalmers of Madison; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Chalmers and one son, Donald Burnett Chalmers. The United States Navy will conduct private graveside services at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
