Donald W. "Donnie" Green, age 82, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late Paul E. and Ethel N. (Lauderbaugh) Green, was born on September 28, 1943, at their home on Ryker's Ridge in Madison. Donnie was united in marriage to Jeanie Day and they were blessed with three children: Donna, Ronnie, and Gary. For 28 years, he owned and operated Green's Body Shop in Madison and also owned the Drake's Lounge for 12 years. He enjoyed wood work, iron work, fishing, and attending stock car races, especially to support Trent Green Racing. Donnie was an avid outdoorsman, a fan of Indiana University basketball, and in his younger years, he rode in the rodeo. For many years, he enjoyed coon hunting with his dog, "Doc" and they even won several competitions together. Donnie was a member of Manville Christian Church where he was baptized and the Sons of the American Legion. Mr. Green passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025 at his residence in Milton, Kentucky.
His life will be cherished by his children: Gary Green and his wife, Dana of Milton, Kentucky, Ronnie Green and his wife, Faith of Madison, and Donna Green of Madison; his sister: Patty Parker of Madison; his grandchildren: Courtney, Lauren, Sara, Casey, Trent, Lee, and Aaron; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Marvin E. Green, Melvin L. Green, William R. Green, and James R. Green; and his grandson: Roy Hawkins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison with interment to follow in Ryker's Ridge Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visit from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Major Samuel Woodfill Post #9, American Legion. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
