Life story Doris Lee Hubbs, age 95, of Hanover, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Hanover Health and Rehab in Hanover. Born January 14, 1924 in Huntington, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Audley and Letha (Harless) Hensley. On February 23, 1943, she was united in marriage to Harry B. Hubbs in Rockhold, Kentucky. Mrs. Hubbs moved to Madison in 1951. She was a nurse for the King's Daughters' Hospital and retired after many years from the Madison State Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Madison, the Madison-Jefferson County Senior Citizens, and Red Hat Society. She was also a long time member and volunteer at RSVP in Madison, and a member of numerous doll and quilting clubs. She was an avid quilter, doll maker and seamstress, and enjoyed crocheting hats for newborns for the King's Daughters' Hospital with the Senior Citizens. Her retirement years were spent enjoying her family, traveling, and volunteering for the many organizations she loved. She will be sadly missed by one son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Lorie Hubbs of Dubois, Indiana; two daughters: Nadja Keech and her husband, Mark of Hanover, and Debbie Powell Flower Mound, Texas; seven grandchildren: Jeff Knox and his wife, Cherri of Madison, Leann McCrady of Lexington, Indiana, Elizabeth Walter and her husband, Tim of Mason, Ohio, Allison Layton of Sandy, Utah, Jay Powell of Denton, Texas, Christina Hoppenjans and her husband, John of Ferdinand, Indiana, and Matthew McGee, Dubois; twelve great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in February 1998; three brothers: Richard Hensley, Harold Hensley and Wink Hensley; two sisters: Ann Ubri and Dorthy Wilson; one grandson, Kevin Knox; and one great granddaughter, Katelyn Bruner. Reverend Mike Hamby will conduct graveside services at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison, with interment to follow.
