Life story Doris J. Hopper, age 88, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at her residence. She was born on February 18, 1927 in Jefferson County, Indiana, the daughter of Earl Raymond and Dorothy M. (Holcraft) Lee. Mrs. Hopper lived most of her life in Jefferson County, briefly living in New Washington, Indiana. She was a member of Madison First Baptist Church, and enjoyed cooking, baking, taking care of her home and planting flowers in her yard. She loved feeding the Hummingbirds, which she said came back each to her porch. She even named some of them. She was an avid Bingo player and one occasion when she was in the hospital for tests, she told her doctor that she had to be discharged by Friday so she could play Bingo. He did what she told him to do. Survivors include two sons: Ronald Hopper and Gary Hopper and his wife, Bonnie, all of Madison; one daughter: Linda Swinney and her husband, Gerald of La Plata, Missouri; one brother: Robert E. Lee and his wife, Tish of Madison; three granddaughters: Teresa Jones of Hanover, Sonja Rhye and her husband, Anthony of Utica, Kentucky and Julie Davidson and her companion, Drew Roberts of Indianapolis, Indiana; one grandson, Michael Hopper and his wife, Michelle of Hanover; three great granddaughters: Kaylee Serna of California, Danielle Blankenship and McKenzie Rhye of Kentucky; one great great granddaughter, Genesis Serna of California; one brother-in-law, Carl Hopper of Chelsea, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving and totally devoted husband Jesse Glenn Hopper on March 8, 2012, and to whom she was married on May 9, 1946 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. They spent two months short of sixty-six years together. Also preceding her in death are three brothers: Jackie Lee, Charles E. Lee and Richard Lee. Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend Brian Teater at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment will follow in New Bethel Cemetery near Chelsea. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday, May 26 and from 9 to 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the King's Daughters' Hospital Cancer Center, New Bethel Church Cemetery Fund or First Baptist Church Technology Fund.
