Obituary

Life story Doris E. McGee, age 85, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. Born February 8, 1933 in Carroll County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Court Courtney and Addie (Oaks) Fancher. She went to school in Carrollton, Kentucky. Mrs. McGee retired from King's Daughters' Hospital as a surgical tech after 27 years of service. She also worked at Meyers and Son and at the Campus Cabin at Hanover College. On July 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Frank Allen McGee in Madison. She was a member of the North Madison Baptist Church-where her son is the pastor, The Eastern Star, Red Hatters and volunteered for many years at the King's Daughters' Hospital. She loved making ceramics, puzzles, bingo, traveling with her husband, especially taking Toby Tours. Her passion was her cats: Courtney Marie and Faith Allen. She will be sadly missed by her son, Pastor Frank McGee and his wife, Susie, of Madison; her daughter, Alice Sorg and her husband, Anthony, of Henryville, Indiana; her brother, Larry Don Courtney and his wife, Leona, of Carrollton; five grandchildren: Stacey Castellanos and Stefanie McGee, both of Madison, Heather McNames and her husband, Jared, of Henryville, Shawn Sorg of Vietnam, and her adopted granddaughter, Kim Young; and seven great-grandchildren: Erin Sorg, Kyle Sorg, Mackenzie McNames, Dylan McNames, Micah McGee, Trinity McGee, and her adopted great-grandchild, Summer Young. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who passed away on January 10, 2010, and her sister, Norma Jean Martin. Reverend David Leland will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at North Madison Baptist Church, 1906 Orchard Street, Madison, Indiana with interment to follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive on Madison's hilltop from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2018, and from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. The family requests memorial contributions be made to North Madison Baptist Church. Contributions may be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations or at the church.
