Life story Mr. Dwight W. Lichlyter, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. Born on September 13, 1919 in Jefferson County, Indiana, he was the son of Herbert and Laura Mabel Marshall Lichlyter. Mr. Lichlyter was a 1938 graduate of the former Hanover High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was honorably discharged in May, 1946. He lived in the Madison area until 1959 and then the Dayton/Fairborn, Ohio area for twenty-five years until returning to Madison in 1989. He retired from civil service at Wright-Paterson Air Force Base in Dayton, and was a life member of the Zoar United Methodist Church in Madison. Survivors include his wife, the former Marie Thinness, to whom he was married on August 1, 1945 in Alameda, California; two daughters: Linda Porter of Madison and Margaret Yates and her husband, Rick, of Port Angeles, Washington; one son: John Lichlyter and his wife, Mary of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren: Matthew Lichlyter of Littleton, Colorado, Reverend Karen Lichlyter-Klein and Ann Lichlyter, both of Colorado Springs, Captain Daniel W. Lichlyter, U.S. Army, of Harker Heights, Texas, and Shannon Lotterer of West Chester, Ohio; eight great grandchildren: Kathryn, Jenna, Megan and Kimberly Lichlyter, and Emily, Elizabeth Julia and Ava Lotterer; and several nieces and nephews. The Reverend Karen Lichlyter-Klein will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, July 21, 2010 and from 10 to 11 AM Thursday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Springdale Cemetery Association. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
