Obituary

Life story Mr. Dwight B. Roberts, age 71, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born on March 19, 1938 in Vevay, Indiana, the son of Joe B. and Christine Reed Roberts. Mr. Roberts attended Vevay High School and was formerly employed by Meese, Inc for twenty-three years, Robus, Inc. for twenty years and the former Butler Dairy for ten years, all located in Madison. He was baptized in the Braytown, Indiana Methodist Church and attended Faith Covenant Church in Madison. He also was a former member of the Madison Moose Lodge and the Sons of the American Legion, both in Madison. He also enjoyed his dogs, working on cars, car engines, and lawnmowers. Survivors include his wife, the former Jocie Parker, to whom he was married on August 31, 2002 in Madison; four sons and daughters-in-law: Ronnie and Deborah Roberts, Larry W. and Kathleen L. Roberts, Gerald and Pam Handlon, and Eric and Teresa Handlon, all of Madison; four daughters: Debbie Martin of Okeechobee, Florida, Connie Roberts, Patty Martin and her husband, Robert, and Lana Handlon, all of Madison; two sisters: Doris Kroger of Lexington, Indiana, and Bess Cutshall and her husband, Sam of Kissimmee, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Rita Roberts of Lexington, Indiana; sixteen grandchildren: Lisa, Sara, Lori, Amber, Ashley, Kim, Anthony B., Tyson, and Daniel Roberts, Amanda Bentz, Whitney Marksberry, Angela and Keiley Martin, and Alysha, Tyler and Emily Handlon; eight great grandchildren: Kyla and Trajan Mack, Izik Roberts, Joshua, Jr. and Mckenzie Smith, Jaden, Tia Bentz, and Rosie D. Gunzman; and one nephew he raised, Joshua "Chopper" Shelly of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Doris Lane (Estes) Roberts; and one son, Bubby Roberts. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Liberty Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 7 PM Saturday, April 4, 2009, and from 12:00 Noon until time of services on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to Dwight B.
