Obituary

Life story Earl R. "Gil" Gilpin, age 72, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at his residence. Born October 17, 1932, he was the son of the late Orville Lee and Lula (Hartwell) Gilpin. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Gilpin; a brother, Charles Gilpin; and a daughter, Deborah Howard. Mr. Gilpin retired from the Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corporation in Madison, and was a member of the American Legion, Jefferson Post #9, the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Post #1969, AmVets, and the Indiana Sheriffs Association. He enjoyed gardening around his house. He is survived by his wife, Ruby, of Madison; one daughter, Earlena Wilking, Madison; three sons: James, Curt and John Gilpin, all of Madison; two brothers: Ray Gilpin of North Vernon, and Eddie Gilpin of Seymour; and three sisters: Dorothy Mails of Seymour, and Alice Everhart and Mary Bullard, both of North Vernon; and several grandchildren.. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Richard McDole at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in the Springdale Cemetery. The Honor Guard of the American Legion, Jefferson Post #9, will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of services Saturday at Lytle Funeral Chapel. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association of Indiana or American Cancer Society. Cards are available at the funeral home.
