Emma "Sue" Arnett Ratekin, age 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. She was born June 2, 1943 in Bedford, Kentucky to the late Joseph and Rachel (Jackson) Arnett. Sue was raised on a farm and was a graduate of Trimble County High School. After moving to Indianapolis, Sue was employed with Bell South which was later Lucent Technologies. Sue met Bob Starnes at a singles dance and for the last 35 years they have spent every possible moment together. She loved traveling to the Caribbean, Hawaii and Lake Tahoe, dancing on Friday evenings, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She had a funny sense of humor. Sue was also very close to Bob's three daughters, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and she loved attending their sporting and musical events. Sue is survived by her devoted life partner, Bob Starnes; children, Tammy (Ernie) Clemons and Troy (Karen) Lovins, Sr.; brothers, Kenny (Barb) Arnett and Dennis (Carolyn) Arnett; sisters, Ida Arnett and Sandra (Jack) Follis; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 East Washington Street, with a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison, Indiana, 47250. Burial will follow at Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky.
