Life story Mrs. Emma Gene Becht, age 87, of Hanover, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Thornton Terrace in Hanover. Born February 3, 1925 in Scott County, Indiana, she was the daughter of John L. and Mary Frances (Garard) Barton. Mrs. Becht retired after 43 years with the former US Shoe Corporation in Madison. Following her retirement, she worked as a volunteer for the Madison office of the American Red Cross. She was a former member of the Madison Moose Lodge and the former Mount Gilead Methodist Church in Scott County. Survivors include one sister, Norma Davisson and her husband, Ted of Scottsburg, Indiana; one brother, Donald Barton and his wife, Nancy of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister in law, Patricia Barton of San Diego, California; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William L. Becht in 1980; two brothers: Leo G. Barton and Robert G. Barton; and one sister, Margaret G. Lanham. The Reverend Gary Bozarth will conduct services at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the Chapel of Grandview Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the donor's favorite charity. Memorial envelopes are available at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, Madison, which is in charge of the arrangements.
