Life story Evelyn U. Graves, age 88, of Hanover, formerly of Madison, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover. Born June 22, 1927 in Jefferson County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Elmer Robert and Uthanna Furnish Burris. Mrs. Graves lived most of her life in the Madison-Jefferson County area. For a short time, she lived in North Vernon, Indiana and Saint Cloud, Florida. She was a homemaker and a member of Tea Creek Baptist Church, Lovett, Indiana. Mrs. Graves loved reading, working Crossword and other puzzles, fishing, camping, shopping and taking care of her family. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Ruth Ann and Anthony Kasper of Hanover, Pamela and Richard Sampson of Madison, and Jane and David Trapp of North Vernon; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noble R. Graves, to whom she was married on December 17, 1949 in Madison, and who died on July 30, 2005; one son, Steven R. Graves in 1991; one grandson, Jason Gross in 2002; four sisters: Flora Glore, Norma Ison, Laura Sellers, and Wilhelmina Copeland; and five brothers: Ellison, Arthur, Lonnie, Russell and Herbert Burris. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 PM Friday February 26, 2016 the Vail Chapel of Lytle Funeral Homes on Michigan Road. Interment will be held at a later date.
