Life story MEMORIAL SERVICE RESCHEDULED Due to inclimate weather, the memorial service for Mr. Griffin has been rescheduled for 5 PM Friday, February 22, 2008. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 PM Friday. The visitation and service will still be held at Hanover Baptist Church. Everett G. Griffin, age 61 of Hanover, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008 at his residence. He was born on October 16, 1946 in Madison, the son of Albert and Mamie Handlon Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a meat cutter for more than thirty-five years, having worked for many years at the former Dave's Shurway in Madison. Ill health forced his retirement in January 2007 while he was working for the Greyhound Supermarket in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 and received the National Defense Service Medal. His memberships included the Hanover Baptist Church, and formerly the Madison Jaycees. Mr. Griffin enjoyed fishing, watching TV and playing cards. Survivors include his wife, the former Verna Callis, to whom he was married on March 22, 1965; two sons and daughters-in-law: Gail L. and Amanda Griffin of Deputy, Indiana, and Troy L. and Donna Griffin of Kent, Indiana; his mother, Mamie Griffin of Madison; one brother, Ronald Higgins of Kent; five sisters: Tulsa Everett of Florida, Helen Boldery of Bedford, Kentucky, Margaret E. Geyman of Madison, Ruby Miracle of Austin, and Georgine Neal of Kent; four grandchildren: Christian A. Griffin, Kristin L. Griffin, Chelsea D. Griffin and Zoe N. Griffin. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Griffin; and one brother, James Higgins. Memorial services will be conducted by the Reverend J.D. Traylor and Mr. Ron Mundy at 5:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2008 at the Hanover Baptist Church. Friends and family may call at the church from 3 to 5 PM on Thursday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hanover Baptist Church. Memorial envelopes are available at Lytle Funeral Chapel or the church.
