Life story Mr. Everett Michael Schafer, age 26 of Madison, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Madison. Born January 9, 1986 in Bartholomew County, Indiana, he was the son of Michael F. Schafer and Connie L. Griffith. Mr. Schafer was a graduate of Madison Consolidated High School, and worked as a fork lift operator for Madison Precision, Inc. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. His favorite pastime was fishing. He especially liked tying flies. He also had become a licensed hunting guide, having received his training in Montana, and enjoyed coon and duck hunting. He was a talented dog trainer, dirt bike and four-wheeling enthusiast. Survivors include his parents; one sister, Felicity L. Schafer of Madison; his paternal grandmother, Elma J. Schafer of Madison; one niece, Hayden Smith and one nephew, Waylon Smith. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Everett Schafer in 1985; and his maternal grandparents, James and Bernice Griffith. The Reverend Donald Buchanan will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, with interment to follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, October 2 and from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 PM Wednesday. He loved his dog, Ranger, so the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Labrador Rescue of Southeastern Indiana or the donor's choice.
