Life story Everett V. Thevenow, age 75, of Hanover, formerly of Madison, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Hanover Nursing Center. Born August 22, 1932 in Jefferson County, Indiana, he was the son of John and Minnie Smith Thevenow. Mr. Thevenow was a 1952 graduate of Madison High School and retired in 1992 from Rexnord, Inc. as an assembler after thirty-three years of service. He was a regular attender of the Madison Regatta, having worked in the pits for many years. An avid fan of the Indianapolis 500, he enjoyed going to the time trials for many years. In his teenage years, he was well-known around Madison as an outstanding roller skater, skating at the roller rink at the Crystal Beach Swimming Pool. His other interests included Indiana University basketball and baseball, following the sport of his uncle, professional baseball player Tommy Thevenow, who was also from Madison. He also liked to visit his friends, and became known as a" good visitor." Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Darril Taylor of Hanover; one son, Gary Thevenow of Bargersville, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Mary Louise Thevenow of Hanover; one nephew, Robert Smith and his wife, Karen of Indianapolis, Indiana; three grandchildren: Clayton Hamilton of Madison, Hannah Thevenow of Greenwood, Indiana, and Deuce Thevenow, II of Bargersville, Indiana; and one great granddaughter, Bailey Hamilton of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the former Hazel Clubb on March 1, 2000, and to whom he was married on March 25, 1978; one sister, Helen Louden; and two brothers: Johnny and Tommy Thevenow. Funeral services will be conducted by Mr. Roger Taylor at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 PM today, Tuesday, January 22, 2008 and from 10 to 11 AM on Wednesday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson Disease Association or to VistaCare Hospice. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
