Life story Frank Lynn "Freaky Frank" "Frog" "Big Daddy" Armstrong, III, 55, of Corydon, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at his residence. Born October 7, 1956 in Madison, he was the son of Frank and Nadine (Lothridge) Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was a 1975 graduate of Shawe Memorial High School and holds the single-game scoring record for basketball with forty-four points. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1975 professional baseball draft. He attended Treveca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tennessee on a full athletic scholarship, Hanover College and Ball State University, and had lived in Madison, Corydon and North Vernon, Indiana. He worked for Hilltop Basic Resources, near Brandenburg, Kentucky as the quarry manager, safety director, river operations manager and quality control manager. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in North Vernon, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, and a fan of Indiana University sports, NASCAR, family vacations, mowing the lawn, gardening, his grandson and telling stories. Mr. Armstrong was known for his warm personality, quick-witted humor and his ability to make everyone smile, no matter what. He is survived by his wife, the former Shelby Jean Jones, whom he married in 1989; three daughters, Brittany and Breanna Armstrong of Corydon, both of whom are students at Indiana University, and Mindy Bunselmeier and her husband, John of Osgood, Indiana; one son, Tim Christman of Corydon; two brothers, Mike and Tim Armstrong, both of Madison; one grandson, Alec Bunselmeier; several nieces and nephews: Stephanie, Amanda, Jimmy, Ryan, Jeremy, Matt, Jenna and Allison; and his pets, Apollo, Pebble and Salander. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by the Reverend Chris Craig at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with interment to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, June 4 and 9:00 to 10:30 AM Tuesday. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM Monday at the funeral home.
