Obituary

Life story Mr. Gary Nolan Humphrey, age 64, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Born February 4, 1948 in Madison, he was the son of Cecil H. and Jess Lee (Meeks) Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey was an automobile mechanic with Humphrey Auto Service in Madison. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1966 to 1971, and received the Purple Heart, among other honors. He enjoyed fishing and playing on the computer. Survivors include his companion, Mary E. Humphrey of Madison; four daughters: Becky Jones and her husband Paul, Kim DeBoard and her husband Lonnie, and Tammy Johnson and her husband Fred, all of Madison, and Debbie Lockridge of Hanover, Indiana; one son: Adams Davis, Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Lexington, Indiana; two sisters: Nancy Heston of North Vernon, Indiana and Ruthie Sarver of LaGrange, Kentucky; four brothers: Steve Humphrey and Mike Humphrey, both of Madison, Ronnie Humphrey of Milton, Kentucky and Tony Humphrey of LaGrange; three step-sisters: Nellie Sue Hensley of Kentucky, and Teresa Hilderbrand and Vickie Vasquez, both of Madison; four step-brothers: Donald Sarver of Madison, Levi Hensley, Ray Hensley and David Gordon, all of Kentucky; twelve grandchildren: Tiffany and Katie Davis, Adam, Chris, Cecil and Mariah Denning, Gary Humphrey, III, Casey Jones, Matt, Nick, and Chris Morrison and Zack Waters; several nieces and nephews; ad his best friend, Raymond Stucker. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Nolan Humphrey, II; one brother, Cecil H. Humphrey, Jr.; one step-brother, Ronnie Hensley; and one grandson, Nathaniel Davis. The Reverend Robert Leach will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Moffett Cemetery, Milton. The Honor Guard of Jefferson Post #9, American Legion, Madison will conduct graveside services. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hospice unit of the Robley Rex VA Medical Center, care of the funeral home. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
