Life story Mrs. Genevieve Vanmeter, age 77, of Scottsburg, Indiana, formerly of Madison, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Beehive Homes Assisted Living facility in Scottsburg. Born March 30, 1934 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Thomas Edwards and Mary Edna McCabe O'Connell. Mrs. Vanmeter moved to Madison after living and working in Louisville, Kentucky. There she worked as an X-ray technician for Norton's Hospital and then retired as an X-ray technician from the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison in the early 1990's. She moved to Scottsburg several years ago to be near her family. She was Catholic. Survivors include a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, who were also her caregivers, David and Joyce Vanmeter of Scottsburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert E. Vanmeter on April 7, 1994; three brothers: Richard, Patrick, and Thomas O'Connell; and one sister, Bertha O'Connell. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky.
