Life story George D. Craig, age 72, of Madison, Indiana, passed away at 3:06 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2005 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born April 19, 1932 in Saluda, Indiana, he was the son of Clarence and Gladys Hall Craig, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Bryan Craig. Mr. Craig retired in 1993 from Envirex, with 32 years of service, and then went to work for Craig Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Toyota. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and the American Legion, Jefferson Post #9. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, receiving a Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal, four Bronze Stars and a National Defense Service Medal. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, camping, and was an avid golfer. Mr. Craig will be missed by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy; one daughter, Kathy D. Phillips of Madison; three sons: Adam D. Craig, Tim M. Craig and his wife, Christine, and Barry D. Craig and his wife, Patty, all of Madison; one sister, Norma Jean Ritchie of Madison; one brother, James Craig of Madison; nine grandchildren: Angela Craig, Amanda Lucas, Jessica Craig, Amber Robinson, Logan Craig, Nick Craig, Nathan Craig, Mitch Craig and Grant Craig; four great-grandchildren: Baily Wynn, Gavin McCormick, Adrielle Lock, and Brayden Lucas; and several nieces and nephews. Anthony Casper will conduct graveside funeral services at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Grandview Memorial Gardens. The Honor Guard of the American Legion, Jefferson Post #9 will conduct military funeral honors at the graveside.
