Obituary

Life story Mr. George Burke, Jr. age 69, of Deputy, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at the King's Daughters' hospital in Madison. He was born on April 19, 1938 on Lee County, Kentucky, and was the son of George, Sr. and Wilma Begley Burke. Mr. Burke graduated in 1956 from Shields Memorial High School in Seymour, Indiana, and retired on June 27, 2003 from Grote Manufacturing (now Grote Industries) after 44 years of service in the maintenance department. He was a member of the North Madison Christian Church and a life member of the Jefferson County Goodwill Conservation Club. One of his hobbies was painting. A display of his artistic ability is on the camp sign as you enter the conservation club where he made his home with his wife and family. He also loved to fish. Survivors include his wife, the former Elsie G. King, to whom he was married on April 14, 1957; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Mark Funk of Newton, Kansas; two step-sons and their wives: Daryl and Lynn Renecker of Deputy, and Rick and Carla Burress of Dupont, Indiana; one step-daughter, Saundra Hendrix of Columbus, Indiana; fifteen grandchildren: Tonya Sparks and her husband, Matt, Shawn King and his wife, Krystal, Staff Sergeant Daniel King and his wife, Tasha, Robert Renecker, Jeffery Renecker, Stanley Renecker, Amber Renecker, Carla Motenko and her husband, Bobby, Michelle Bear, Chelsea Burress, Claire Burress, Joey Stakelin, Melissa Brigman and her husband, Brian, Jake Funk and Katie Funk; nine great grandchildren: Reagan Sparks, Ethan, Taylor, Seth and Jazzlynn King, James Palfreeman, Carmen and Alexis Bear, Brian, Jr. and Liberty Brigman, and Austin and Riley Motenko. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rufus Burke on January 11, 2000. Funeral services will be conducted by Elder Dennis Straub at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 10 AM until time of services on Saturday.
